Green Room
Date. 2015
San Juan del Obispo, Guatemala
In 2015 Casa San Juan commissioned the construction of a freestanding hotel structure comprising five rooms (blue, white, green, orange and yellow). Each of the rooms has unique features of interest. The outside of the hotel was encased with a wire mesh. This allows vines to easily grow on the structure, integrating the building with the surrounding verdant landscape.

The Green Room contains a mezzanine and private bathroom. The high ceiling and curved wall with tall narrow windows are distinguishing features of this room.
The Lamina POP structure has been left partially exposed, this reflects light and gives the room a more open feel. The floor of the mezzanine was built using a concrete and polystyrene mix, as an experiment to reduce the aggregates needed in construction.
